Boat BallastGreenship's ballast Water management System
Minimum Space, Maximum Performance

Worldwide Threat

*Ships currently transport over 80% of the world's commodities.  In addition they transfer approximately 3 to 5 billion tonnes of ballast water worldwide each year.  The resulting introduction of invasive marine species into new environments by ship's ballast water, attached to ship's hulls and via other vectors has been identified as one of the four greatest threats to the world's oceans, and can cause extremely severe environmental, economic and public health impacts.

MS ElisabethLegislation and Regulations

In anticipation of this threat the International IMO member countries agreed to develop a mandatory international legal regime to regulate and control ballast water.

This culminated in the adoption of a convention requiring ballast water treatment, to be effective, from February 13, 2004, with a succeeding ratification process [Additional MEPC 52/WP. 7, as per 22 July 2005 MEPC 53].

Ballast Water Management System, Sedimenter 100Worldwide Solution

GREENSHIP is committed to the cause and is introducing a new and powerful shipboard Ballast Water Management System.

This system comprises two parts:

  • The Sedimentor for the removal of sediment and biota.
  • The Electrolyse System for the extermination of bacteria and organisms, used to disinfect water without the use of chemical treatment.

It is easily integrated into existing ballast systems; contains no moving parts; requires no specifically qualified personnel for operation and maintenance; and it is compact and flexible, requiring only a minimum of space with easy and low cost maintenance.

As a result of the system's performance no new consolidating mud in the ballast tanks will develop, providing economic profit.

For example:

  • more cargo transport or fuel reduction
  • less corrosion in the ballast tanks
  • less damage to coating in the ballast tanks

This modular System will perform to maximum effectiveness and is the most suitable and appropriate Ballast Water Management System for ships with ballast flow rates and 50 m3/hr up to 5000 m3/hr pump and higher.

Greenship's Ballast Water Management System is designed to achieve virtually every standard proposed by IMO's MEPC 52 and MEPC 53.
